Born and bred in London and familiar with city life it was a drastic move to make the switch to the village of Epworth. It was in September 2018 when Sam and his family took over Oceans 52 and moved in above the fish shop.
Sam, his wife Suky and his two sons Ekam & Taj aged 2 & 6 settled quickly into village life with everything on the doorstep including schools. Happy with their move they wanted to become part of the village community, they continued to employ staff from local villages making sure the shop was giving back what it could.
In May 2019 disaster struck turning everything on its head, a fire caused the fish shop to close and the family home unliveable. Having only been in the village for 8 months and expecting their 3rd child, Sam and his family had to live in hotels for 6 weeks before returning to the shop.
The easy decision would have been to move back to London, but they decided to stay, rebuild their lives and turn a negative situation into a positive opportunity. A baby girl, Pari arrived and with a lot of hard work the shop has now reopened.
Time has been well spent during the closure with the shop now certified by the National Federation of Fish Friars along with a training day spent with David Miller, winner of the 2018 best fish n chip shop award. We will be implementing what we have learnt to make sure our customers get the best experience at Oceans 52.
The shop has been completely refurbished and redesigned with every effort made to reflect the village ambience. With a new £45,000 fish range serving fresh, sustainably sourced cod & haddock along with fresh chips. The new range will allow chips to be cooked within 2 minutes of the customers order to ensure freshness and flavour.
We will be adding new services including breakfasts daily from 8.30 until 11am; premium Illy coffee and every Tuesday will be a gluten free day. All our sauces will always be gluten free. We will also provide a free lunch time delivery to all the shops on the high street.
We are now open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 4.30 until 8 and Thursday, Friday and Saturday 11.30 until 1.45 and 4.30 until 8. Come visit us for some delicious fish and chips or order online and collect.
